William John (Bill) Cooper Jr. passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2014. Bill is predeceased by his parents William and Helen Craig Cooper, sister Delores Breckenridge, and brother Thomas Cooper. Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years Marcia McCrea Cooper, son, William John III, Diane (wife), grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, and Brooke Cooper of Sharpsburg, GA; son, H. Robert, Jennifer (wife), and granddaughter, Sofia of Absecon NJ; brother, Robert Cooper of Neptune, NJ, sister, Joan Hunt of Lakewood, NJ, sister, Jacqueline Weniger of Brick Township, NJ, sister, Margaret McCormack of Belmar, NJ, and sister, Barbara Pridgeon of Ocean Township, NJ. Bill is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Bill was born in North Arlington, NJ on March 18, 1934. His family relocated to Belmar, NJ in 1941. After graduating from St. Rose High School in 1952, Bill was employed by Jersey Central Power & Light Company for 42 years. Bill worked in the Meter Department for many years then with the Relay Department until his retirement in 1994. Bill proudly served his country after being drafted into the Army in 1956. He was stationed at Fort Benning, GA and served in the 3d Infantry Division until 1958. Bill loved the beach, living at the Jersey Shore, and was a die-hard New York Giants fan and season ticket holder of over 35 years. In 1999 Bill and Marcia moved from Sea Girt, NJ to Newnan GA to be with their family and grandchildren. Bill was a communicant of St. George Catholic Church in Newnan, GA. Bill was very proud of his volunteer work for the St. Vincent de Paul Ministry at St. George Church. One of Bill’s passions was working out at the gym at least three times a week. Bill’s greatest joy in life is his grandchildren, his love for them is unconditional. Bill is a man of strong Faith who truly loves God, family, and country. Bill will be missed dearly by all who know and love him.
