William (Bill) Jiro Kawai 88, of Caldwell, died peacefully of natural causes on November 15th, 2011. Bill was born in Hansen, Idaho, to Shichiro and Misao Kawai on March 26, 1923. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1941 and served in the US Army during WWII. He farmed in Twin Falls until 1950, and then in Marsing in partnership with his brother, George, until they retired in 1999.
Bill delighted in his family and friends, learning about the natural world, and participating in activities in the great outdoors. He continued to take part in all of these loves throughout his last days. His generous nature and joyful smile will be missed by all who knew him.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary Joo and Ruby Aoyama, and nephew Mike Kawai. He is survived by his wife, Tsuta Ivy, siblings George Kawai and Grace Yamamoto, daughters Diana (Jerome) Yankowitz, Pamela (Mitchell) Fincher, Cyndi (David) Bondi, four beloved grandchildren, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
