William James Sandson

William James Sandson’s life ended unexpectedly on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the young age of twenty-three.  William’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.  Whether he was known to you as William, Billy, Will, Bill, Billiam, or any one of his other monikers, the fact that you knew him makes you one of the lucky ones.  His quick wit, incredible sense of humor, kind and loving heart and giving spirit made him more special to more people than he would ever know.

William’s life was lived in service to his country and to others.  He began the service to his country when he joined ROTC in high school.  Upon graduating high school, he continued his service by joining the Air Force.  He served in Germany and in 2014, he left the Air Force and returned home to Fontana, California.  His return coincided with his parents moving from Fontana, California to Kalispell, Montana.  In the same fashion of servitude, William chose to move with his parents and help them with their relocation.  William chose to stay in Kalispell, Montana, but he was not finished yet.  He still needed to serve his country and decided to join the National Guard.  Yes, folks, he CHOSE to go through Basic Training again, this time for the Army, so that he could further serve his country.  As if that wouldn’t be more than enough for most, he then decided to become an EMT so that he could volunteer at the local Evergreen Fire Department.  William may have had a short life, but he lived.  He served.  He loved.  William accomplished more in his short time here than most would in a lifetime.

William is survived by his parents, Dale and Kristin Sandson of Kalispell, Montana; his sister Rebecka De Leon, her husband, Luis De Leon and his nephew David De Leon of Fontana, California; his maternal Grandmother, Marlene Polk of Corona, California.  He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
