William Jerome Weinzetl, 85 died February 22, 2009 at Parc Hall, Emmetsburg, Iowa. He was born January 7, 1924 to Anthony and Alvera (Namer) Weinzetl in Mallard, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Mallard, attending St. Mary’s Catholic School. He worked as a farm hand until 1946 when he entered the United States Army on January 28, serving as a medical Techinician in the 172nd Station Hospital in Japan. He was honorably discharged on April 13, 1947 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Bill returned to Mallard and farmed with his father until his retirement. He had been a resident of Parc Hall since 2003. Survivors include his niece Lovice Goodchild of Mallard, IA, great nieces, Connie Goodchild, Sioux City, IA, Mrs. Vera (Max) Marckmann, Fontanelle, IA, Mrs. Coleen (Eric) Petersen, Sioux City, IA, Mrs. Vickie (Tony) Drake, Techumseh, MI, great nephews: J.D. (Wendy) Goodchild, Storm Lake, IA, A.J.(Judi) Goodchild, Mallard, IA and 10 great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Michael and Bernard and one sister Eileen Jacobs, brother in law James Jacobs, nephew in law Jack Goodchild and great niece Barbara Goodchild. Bill was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Mallard Fire Department where he served as fire chief.
