William J. Vogel, Jr., age 92, a devoted father and loving husband, passed away on Dec. 25, 2009. Born in Reading, PA, on Dec. 17, 1917, he was the son of William J. Vogel, Sr. and Clara Pennypacker Vogel. A resident of the Boerne since 1986, he had moved from Mohnton, PA. He loved living in Texas and had a special affection for wild and domesticated animals. A Veteran of WWII, he had served in the U. S. Army, 29th Infantry, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Bill had retired from Met-Ed (now 1st Energy) in 1979 after 38 years with the company. A member of the Boerne Bunch Square Dance Club and the KARS, he was also a member of the VFW. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Miriam Marz, Mr. Vogel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; daughters, Kimberly A. Vogel and Susan K. Vogel of Boerne; sons, William J. Vogel, III of California and David C. Vogel of Houston; grandson, William Christopher Vogel.
