William J. Burris, 80, of Peru, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at his home. Mr. Burris was born December 6, 1938 in Spring Valley to William M. and Edna (Shipp) Burris. He married Linda Patarozzi on October 24, 1959 at St. Anthony’s Church in Spring Valley. Mr. Burris was a machinist and in management at Sauer-Danfoss for 36 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and the Eagles in Peru.
He was coach and umpire for Peru Little League baseball for more than 36 years having a field named after him. He was involved in the Illinois District 20 baseball as an administrator and was an avid youth and high school wrestling fan and scout. Survivors include his wife, Linda; six children, Jeff (Kathy) Burris of Oglesby, William Burris of Iowa, Sylvia (Jeff) Ballard of Peru; Jason Burris of Rochester, MN, Victor (Gina) Burris of LaSalle and Greg (Denise) Burris of Wyanet; 29 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard L. (Kate) Burris of LaSalle and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and four sisters.
