SPOKANE, WA: William J. “Billy” Cox, 69 of Grangeville passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.

Billy was born July 7, 1948 at Cottonwood, Idaho the son of William and Bettie Utt Cox. They moved to Grangeville when Billy was in the 3rd grade and he graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School before graduating from Grangeville High School in 1966. Following his graduation from high school he attended Boise State University for two years. He married Patty Simmons in 1969 they later divorced and remained close friends. He worked for Herb Brown at John Day Creek until the mid 1970’s when he moved to Grangeville and started working for Union Warehouse as a field man. He purchased the Crossroads Restaurant in the early 1990’s and retired in 2000. After retirement he worked as a shuttle driver for river rafters.

Billy was a member of the Grangeville Gun Club, the Grangeville Elks Lodge and was very proud of serving as Exalted Ruler in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid football fan especially watching the Seattle Seahawks. He love to watch his grand daughter play basketball and participate in rodeos.

He is survived by his son, Shawn and daughter in law Kristi of Middleton, Idaho, his mother, Bettie Cox of Grangeville, his grand daughter and her husband Brittany and Tim White of Rome, Oregon and his great grandson Kolton. He is also survived by his close friend Patty Cox of Middleton, Id and many cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his dad, William.
