On Monday, October 10, 2022, William “Bill” Henry Slater Jr, a beloved husband, brother and uncle passed away at age 81.
Bill was born on March 7, 1941, to Concetta Piraino and William Henry Slater Sr. in St. Petersburg, FL, and graduated from Northeast high school. After graduation, Bill went on to serve in the United States Air Force and later studied radio/TV engineering. Early on in his career, he worked at a local Christian radio station kickstarting a long successful career as an engineer with Voice of America in Washington DC.
Bill was grounded in his faith and a passionate preacher for Christ. He never missed an opportunity to spread the word to friends, family, and his community. Bill was a kind selfless man that carried a heavy heart for Israel and its Jewish people often sending support, to help his fellow man. Bill had a love for science and was known to be a talented ballroom dancer in his youth. In retirement, Bill most enjoyed quality time with his family, birds, and dogs, and watching science fiction films.
Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Slater Carnegie, his parents, Concetta and William Slater, and his nephew Joseph Jonathon Slater. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years Kathaleen Slater of Dunnellon, FL; brother, Frederick Michael Slater of Tarpon Springs, FL; sister Eileen Slater Llewellyn of Plantation, FL; sister Gloria Slater Carnegie of Cape Coral, FL and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
