William was born in Morgan County, Alabama on November 28, 1940 to the late John Blount Robinson and Ida Minnie McCarns Robinson. He departed this life on May 31, 2013 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, James Donnell Robinson.
He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Somerville. He graduated from Morgan County Training School. After graduation, he moved to Chicago, Illinois where he was employed as a cook for many years at Downey VA Hospital. He was an exceptional and dedicated employee at the hospital and on June 30, 1966, he was awarded the job of Chief Cook.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving a devoted wife, Mary Gladys Burns Robinson of Somerville; a daughter, Felisha Denise (James) Evans of Decatur;son, Calvin Dewayne Robinson of Somerville; sister, Katherine (Clarence) Bibb of Huntsville; brother, Curtis (Martha) Robinson of Florence; grandchildren, Jelisha Renee Evans and James Elijah Evans and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friend.
