Bill Rice, age 93, passed away on December 14, 2015. He was born September 17, 1922, in Verona, Missouri. He was the youngest son of John and Katherine Rice. He met Myrtle Slaughter, in Missouri, and married her in Pocatello, Idaho, on May 13, 1946. They have been married for over 69 years.
Dad was a proud World War II veteran. He served in the Naval Seabees (construction battalions) primarily on the island of Saipan. The CB’s motto is: we build, we fight!
Dad and Mom raised the family in Boise but in 1975 moved to Lowman, where Dad was a heavy equipment operator for the State of Idaho responsible for snow removal and road maintenance in the Lowman area. He retired in 1984.
Dad was a hard-working, family man. He loved to talk and tell stories. He was greatly loved and will be missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Myrtle Rice; four children; Patsy (Bill) Lobotzke, Kathy (Tom) Wilcomb-Menten, Bill (Cindy) Rice, and Lynn (Dianne) Rice; 10 grand and step-grandchildren; and 21 great grand and step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and a son-in-law.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your job is done.
