Obituary of William Henry Mott

Mott, William H. “Bill”, Jr. of Freeland, Michigan

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Covenant HealthCare Rehabilitation Center. He was 80 years old. William Henry Mott, Jr. was born August 25, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late William and Margaret (Behm) Mott, Sr. He was a proud graduate of Arthur Hill Trade School. Following graduation, Bill enlisted into the United States Air Force serving as an Aircraft Radio Mechanic during the Korean War Era. He married Betty Ann Sahr on January 19, 1957 in Reese, Michigan; she survives him. Bill played baseball for the Selfridge Air Force Base Baseball Team. He worked for U.S. Graphite as an Aircraft Audit Inspector for 42 years, never missing a day of work throughout his employment. Bill and Betty owned and operated Millie’s Speedy Wash and Bel-Re Dry-Cleaning. He was a member of the American Legion Post #439, the Moose Lodge #82, and the VFW. Bill also owned B&B Beerline Cleaning. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan. He enjoyed running, going to the casino and traveling up north.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Betty Ann Mott of Freeland; two sons and three daughters: William J. (Denise) Mott, III, of Saginaw, Dawn M. Ruh and her boyfriend, Eddie Bishop of Freeland, Linda L. (Thomas) Mead of Saginaw, Lori A. (Michael) Sobkowiak of Freeland, and Troy A. (Jennifer) Mott of Saginaw; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three brothers: John (Marion) Mott, Charles (Barbara) Mott and James (Betty) Mott all of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister: Betty Jane Mott; and his dachshund, Ace.
