Harry led a remarkable life beginning in Revillo South Dakota on June 26, 1923. When his family moved to Marshall Minnesota, Harry began to make his mark on the world. He was issued the first library card for the Marshall City Library and thus began his love of reading. At the age of eleven he started the first Animal Shelter in his family’s barn. He would take in all the strays and then pull his wagon around to restaurants every afternoon picking up scraps for his wards. Eventually a formal Animal Shelter was founded through Harry’s efforts.
Harry Grogan enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served as a gunner making numerous flights during his six years on the USS Saratoga. Once he left the Navy, he met and instantly fell in love with his beautiful wife of sixty years, Margaret.
Together, Harry and Marge traveled the world during his thirty year career with Bechtel Corporation. Harry retired in 1985 and was fortunate enough to spend his summers in Flagstaff and his winters in Phoenix which gave him the opportunity to do what he loved most, golfing almost daily, building wood projects, fishing and spending time with his family.
