SALEM – William H. Smith, Jr., age 68, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at his home. He was born October 30, 1949 in Salem, the son of Shirley (Grace) Petti and the late William H. Smith, Sr.
William was a member of the Amvets Post #45 and the Slovak Club. He was a 1967 graduate of Salem High School. William served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Petti of Salem; his wife, Barbara (Wooding) Smith, whom he married October 18, 2009; two daughters, Amanda (Landon) Heath of Salem, Brittany (Steve) Marshall of Denver, CO; two step daughters, Emily Gibson of Salem and Brandi Koerner of Columbiana; a step son, Joseph (Abbi) Gibson of Pittsburgh, PA; three sisters, Charlene Hunchuck of North Carolina, Darlene Smith of California and Beverly Davis of Salem; nine grandchildren, Nash and Graham Heath, Dana Hackney and Nicholas Koerner, Jocelyn, Kyle and Ryan Gibson and Logan and Chase Rapp.
A step father, Dominic Petti, also preceded him in death.
