William “Will” Henry Clay Huffman III, 81, of Lose Ave., Loyalsock Township, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Kay Joyce Stenger Huffman. He and his wife had been married since Aug. 11, 1962.
A life-long resident of Williamsport, he was born on Aug. 16, 1929, to the late William Henry Clay Huffman II and the late Elsie Hannah Ebner Huffman.
Will was predeceased by a sister, M. Joan Huffman Siner. Surviving besides his wife, are two sons, Eric William Huffman and wife, Linda of Montoursville, and Bruce Edward Huffman of Williamsport; a grandson, Eric Jon Huffman of Williamsport; a granddaughter, Amy (Long) Smith and husband Brian, of Shillington, Pa.; a great- granddaughter, Grace Smith; and a brother-in-law, Jay Neil Stenger and wife, Barbara of Sheperdstown, W.Va.; nephews, David Siner of Asheville, N.C., Dr. John Siner and wife Nancy of Kingsport, Tenn., Neil Stenger and wife Corinna of Bunker Hill, W.Va., Lee Stenger and wife Rainy of Christiansburg, Va.; and several great nieces.
After graduating from the Williamsport High School in 1947, he received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Lock Haven State College in 1952 and a master’s degree in education from Bucknell University in 1961. He taught fourth grade at the Cochran Elementary School for many years.
Will was a member of Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church. A Thomas T. Tabor Museum volunteer for many years, he started the annual Toy Train Expo in 1990, which in later years was held at Park Place in connection with Victorian Christmas. A toy train enthusiast, Will was also an avid reader, enjoyer of classical music, a lover of animals and nature, and was a devoted family man.
