It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of WILLIAM GROVER SCAGGS, Sr on October 8,2022 at the age of 86 surrounded by the love of his family.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Susan; children Joseph (Kimberly), Bill Jr, Steven (Diane), Lorrie (Art); grandchildren Joe (Megan), Kayce (Alan), Christy (Neil), Steve Jr, Chris, Michael, Haley, Jack; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Cameron.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Jean Scaggs and parents Harry and Mary Scaggs.
Bill held many titles throughout his accomplished life; postman, entrepreneur, restauranteur, bank chairman, financier, dealmaker, philanthropist, mentor, great friend, son, husband, and father just to mention a few. Bill excelled at everything he put his mind to in life. He used to tell his children “The harder I worked, the luckier I got“.
Bill valued his friends and had a special way of connecting with everyone that was lucky enough to come into his life. He was a loving, caring, generous man who was also known to share a politically incorrect joke or two.
Even though a failing heart took him from this world, his generous and loving heart leaves a beacon of light for his family, friends and community. Bill loved making an impact on the world around him. His favorite charities were his alma mater St. John’s College High School, Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Louis and Anne Green Memory Center and Help for Haiti. Bill was instrumental in building three business and educational schools in Haiti that will help thousands of children for generations to come.
