WILLIAM FRANK GRIMES JR. (BILLY) of Deming, NM Joined our Heavenly Father on March 16, 2012 in El Paso, Texas after a long illness.
Born July 30, 1937 in Silver City, NM to the late William Frank Grimes (Goo) and Vernon Nancy Salars Grimes. He was married to Jackie Lee Gaume on July 30, 1966 in Hatch. He is survived by sons Nolan (Rhonda) of Mesa, AZ and Paul Grimes of Deming and Dale(Bree) Grimes of Apache Junction, AZ,. His 8 grandchildren Annalee (Kade), George, Molly, Samantha, Crystal, Dakota, Chance & Cody. His 2 great grandchildren Katlynmae and Remmi. His sisters Ellen Miller of Globe, AZ, Libby (Kerlin) Keller of Globe, Az, Jo Ann Passing of Carlsbad. Brother Ves Grimes of Silver City. Numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
He loved to be with his family and especially enjoyed all the family reunions.
He loved sports, animals, fishing, camping, horse shoes and loved doing activities with his grandchildren.
He was raised in Hurley where he attended elementary then Western High School in Silver City, then received his masters in Business Education from WNMU. He served in the National Guard later in the Air Force where he got a medical discharge after 10 years as a Sgt. While serving in the Air Force he was stationed in Puerto Rico and several bases in US. He also was on the Judo Air Force team and loved swimming in the ocean.
Some of his occupations were a truck driver for his brother in law Raymond Crumbley, worked on the trail crew, fought fires, and on the fire tower while in the forest service, working at the smelter at Hurley and warehouse at Tyrone, farming near Deming, volunteered with Florida Mountain Volunteer Fire Dep. where he served as fire chief for many years, taught at Lordsburg(2 years) and Deming High School as the typing teacher, business math, wrestling coach and started the program for on the job training where he retired from Deming Public Schools after 12 years.
