William Meyers Gordon “Bill” Life’s Journey “The Steps of a Good Man is Ordered by God” “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighted in his way…” Psalm 37:23 William Myers Gordon was born on September 29, 1929, in Greenwood, Mississippi to Julia Smith-Hunt and Clarence Hunt. He was the eldest of three children born to Julia. William was educated and raised by his mother’s sister, Mary Bea Williams in Greenwood, Mississippi. He shared many happy and precious memories with his Aunt Mary Bea. She would often take little William hunting and fishing and let him bring his friends along. As an early teen at the young age of 14, William joined the United States Army, where he was later stationed in Paris, France. He often spoke of vivid memories of WWII and how he endured many hazardous incidents barely escaping with his life.
