William George was born November 16, 1939 in Butler, Alabama to the late William George Carnathan and the late Mable Carter. He passed away peacefully at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS on Tuesday, June 26, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Carter, his father, George Carnathan, two brothers, Lance Carter and Turner Carter.
After stopping school at an early age, he worked as a mechanic in Butler, AL. Further he always saw fit to give to those around him and always extended himself and services. With the love of farming, he loved raising chickens.
George confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Butler Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Butler, AL and was a member of the Butler Temple Lodge #941.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Julia Carter; six children, George (Elvira) Carter, Brenda (Deon*) Jackson, Shelia Ford, Sarah (Anthony) Cade, Arthur (Janeise) Carter, Jerry (Aretha) Carter; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two special and devoted nieces, Christine Carter-Mosley and Jean Archie. A devoted god-daughter, Bonnie Gaston. Devoted friends, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Johnson, Mr. & Mrs. Mark Gibson, Mrs. Margaree and family. One sister-in-law, Essie Bush, two brother-in-laws, Charlie Grice and Will (Veronica) Grice, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
