William E. Furrer, age 66, of Salem, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at his home. He was born November 20, 1949 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Edward John and Vessie (Campbell) Furrer.

He was a graduate of Salem High School. Bill worked at Quaker Security as a Security Guard and Clark Pulley as a Splitter. He attended the First Christian Church in Salem and was an avid collector of everything.

He was in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Eva (Mathey) Furrer, whom he married May 8, 1971; a son, James (Melanie) Furrer of El Cajon, California; two daughters, Dorothy Jean (Michael) Eaton of Denver, Colorado, and Susan “Sissy” Furrer of Salem; a sister, Helen Furrer of Salem; two step sisters, Gloria (Paul) Paster of Salem, and Margaret (Ted) Thorne of Salem; a brother, Steven Furrer of Columbiana; five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
