William F. Schwartz, Sr., of Beverly, died Friday November 23rd at the Cooper Medical Center in Camden, at the age of 81. Born in Riverside, NJ., on February 15, 1926, he has been a resident of the area most of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Beverly for over 50 years.
A charter member of the “A.C. Club” of Beverly, he was also past president of Federal Credit Union 944T as well as a union officer for many years. A United States Navy veteran, he served his country honorably as a Petty Officer during World War II and was a life member of V.F.W. Post #3020 in Delran. He had been employed by Wall Rope Industries in Beverly and retired from there as a dock foreman.
An avid sports fan, he also enjoyed trips with his wife to Atlantic City. Son of the late Joseph and Kathryn Schwartz, and father of the late William F. Schwartz, Jr., he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores (nee McKeown) Schwartz of Beverly, his children: Cynthia and her husband Joseph Artale of Edgewater Park, Thomas Schwartz of Beverly, Marjorie Schwartz of Beverly, James Schwartz of Mt. Laurel and Kathleen Heller of Riverside.
He was a wonderful and loving grandfather to: Joseph Wetherby, Daniel, David & Christin Artale, Stephen & Connor Schwartz, Sherry Sandfort as well as great-grandfather to Mackenzie Wetherby. He is also survived by his siblings: Kathryn, Mary, Betty, Doris , Judy and Donald. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. James Eakins and all the medical and nursing staff at Cooper Hospital for all they did to assist the family at this time.
