Mr. Murphy was employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools for 30 years as a custodian at Taconic High School.
A member of the American Legion Post 68, he was an avid Red Sox and Rams fan.
He and his wife, the former Kathi Burke were married August 14, 1994.
