After graduating from Georgia Tech Bill married the late Marilyn Antle Warner.
Bill was a wonderfully tender, kind, and gentle man. He believed and practiced the principle that all mankind were worthy and were doing the best they could under their unique circumstances. He never judged, or found fault with another human being. Travel, sports, reading and music were favorite interests of Bill.
Bill was very athletic and in his younger days enjoyed golf, tennis, scuba diving, hiking, camping, horseback riding, swimming, and snow skiing. After closing the family business he became a professional skier and was Ski Patrol Leader at Sky Valley, Georgia for a number of years. He and Myrna relocated for a period of time to California and Nevada to be able to enjoy a longer ski season. Bill received EMT training and became a professional Ski Patroller at the ski resort at Diamond Peak, Nevada. While living out west he performed in several snow skiing races and won a Bronze medal at Squaw Valley.
After moving back to their home in Sky Valley Bill worked both as an EMT in Rabun County, and for the Rabun County Sheriff’s Dept. as a jailer and courtroom bailiff. He carried a weapon only under protest and because it was a requirement. Bill later received his training to become a certified, licensed, Hypnotherapist, and had an office first in Tiger, Ga, and later in Clayton, Ga. During this time he wrote two books. His last years, after having a heart attack and several strokes, which caused him to suffer from vascular dementia, he and his wife Myrna spent most of their time quietly at home in Sky Valley, enjoying their common interests of reading, watching TV, and playing card and board games. They also enjoyed growing their own vegetables at the Old School Garden, Clayton, Ga.
