Those left to honor William’s memory are his 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Darlene Eilander of Newton, Larry and Betty Eilander of Newton, and Billy Eilander of Grinnell, Iowa; 5 daughtes and sons-in-law, Linda and Richard Schmidt of Marshalltown, Iowa, Alice and David Whitlach of Spencer, Iowa, Donna and Terry Mann of Eldora, Iowa, Nancy McConnell of Newton, and Rosemary and John Long of Newton; his 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Annie Eilander Thompson (sho died the following day on Monday, February 14, 2005); and many nieces and nephews.
William was a member of the Newton Baptist Temple.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
