William Edwin Mills, 81, of 345 Lindhurst Drive, Danville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. Born June 29, 1928 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Mamie Shields Mills and the late Daniel C. Mills. He was married to Patsy Witt Mills of the residence. William was a retired letter carrier with the United States Postal Service and was a member of United Baptist Church and formerly a longtime member of Keen St. Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and a member of Sandy Creek Hunting Club. Mr. Mills served in the United States Army and faithfully served his country in Korea. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Donna Mills Sparks of Blairs and a son, Donald Edwin Mills of Gastonia, NC; three sisters, Shirley P. Cristall of Danville, Illah M. Hardy of Keeling and Erma M. Slayton of Vernon Hill, VA. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Dylan W. Sparks of Blairs and Samantha A. Mills of Gastonia, NC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Kevin William Mills, one brother Aubrey D. Mills, and three sisters, Dorothy M. Dance, Marie M. Carson, and Elmer Mills.
