William Edward Bean, 74, of Boise, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2008. He was born July 28, 1934 in Sacrament, CA to Edlyn Berniece Whitcraft and Dr. Raymond Hedley Bean. He was their first child. Two years later, a brother, George Henry, was born.
Bill graduated from high school in Sacramento, went to a year of college at San Luis Obisbo, and then joined the Navy. He spent 13 years active duty in the Navy and seven years in the Army Reserves. During his years in the Navy, he traveled far and wide throughout the world and ended his Navy career as a Chief Machinist Mate. In the Army Reserves he retired as a Sergeant. He was a skilled mechanic and machinist.
On March 8, 1958 he married Marsha Rae Davis and together they had three children, Sharon, Eugene and Scott. They later divorced and Bill married Cheryl Ann Harmon on August 22, 1974. They had four sons, Bill Jr., George Henry, Bryan and Douglas. After this marriage ended in divorce, Bill married Margaret Byers Gamble on June 10, 2000.
Bill has lived in many places including Saramento and San Luis Obisbo, CA, Chelsea MA, Philadelphia, PA, Hyram, UT, Blackfoot, Burley, Pocatelly, St. Anthony and Boise, ID.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marji; 13 children; 28 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, George Henry Bean II.
