Dr. William Earnest Barron, 85, of Newnan, Georgia, died, August 9th, 2016 at home. He was born in Newnan, Georgia, to William Earnest, Sr. and Elizabeth Darden Barron. He graduated from Newnan High School, attended college at Emory at Oxford and graduated from the University of Georgia, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He then attended the Medical College of Georgia, where he was a member of Phi Rho Sigma medical fraternity, and was selected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honorary Medical Society.

He interned at Macon Memorial Hospital where he met the love of his life, Carolyn Virginia Cobb. They were married in Macon and returned to MCG Augusta Hospital to complete his 3rd year of training in Internal Medicine. Upon completion of his medical training, he entered the military service as a Lieutenant in the USAF Medical Corp at Beale Air Force Base in California. After fulfilling his military service, Dr. Barron returned home to Newnan to practice medicine and serve his community as physician for over 55 years.

He practiced at the PAPP Clinic for 46 years and continued at the Coweta Samaritan Clinic in Newnan as a volunteer physician until his death in 2016. Dr. Earnest Barron was a compassionate and caring physician for over 60 years. He was involved in many medical organizations: Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, President of the Coweta County Medical Society, President of 4th Old District Medical Society, President of the Council of the Medical Association of Georgia, and a founder, president and longtime medical director of Beaulieu Nursing Home.

Dr. Barron was also active in his community serving on the Coweta Board of Health, City of Newnan Planning Commission, Bank of Coweta Board of Directors, The Heritage School Board of Directors, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Carolyn Barron Montessori School, Rotary Club member and deacon and lifelong member of the Central Baptist Church. Although he was an accomplished physician and man of strong faith, his greatest joy in life was his family. Dr. Barron is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Cobb Barron; parents, William Earnest, Sr. and Elizabeth Darden Barron; and sister, Elizabeth Barron Lamb.

Dr. Barron is survived by his children; Beth Barron Wagstaff (Joe) of Newnan, Ga, Leslie Barron Jeter (Jeff) of Moreland, GA, William Kent Barron, Sr. (Vicki) of Naples, FL, and Nancy Barron Shiver (David) of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren; Leslie Bayless Raysin (Nick), William Van Wagstaff (Alyssa), Laura Katherine Jeter, Natalie Elizabeth Bayless, Joseph Grant Wagstaff, Barron Phillips Jeter, Carolyn Kent Bayless, William Kent Barron, Jr, Laura Carolyn Barron, John Barron Wagstaff, and William Earnest Barron, III, Jocelyn Hope McConnaughey; and great granddaughter, Hadley Hayes Raysin; best friend and neighbor, Norma Chapman Haynes.
