William “Earl” Kennedy departed this earthly life on August 29, 2016 surrounded by many beloved family members after suffering from declining health in the last years of his life.
Earl joined the Merchant Marines at a young age and worked as an iron worker all his adult life. He was well known for his expertise breeding roosters and his keen eye when it came to livestock. He was also a man of few words but who could also crack a joke with that twinkle in his eye that we, as his family, knew so well. Many will remember Earl as a hell raiser in his younger days who settled down as time marched on, preferring to share his life with the love of his life, Jeanette, and his children and grandchildren “on his hill.”
Though we mourn his passing we also cherish the memories each of us has that were built over a lifetime. He will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jeanette; daughters, Cindy McClure and husband, Scottie, Tammy Fontenot and husband, Ronald, and Lisa Bridge and husband, Bobby; sons, David Kennedy and wife, Jackie, and Robert Kennedy; one brother, Tommy Kennedy; grandchildren, Amanda McClure Christopher, Josh Kennedy and Delicia Collins, David and Alan Kennedy, Shane Fontenot, Shanna Buxton, and Chad Fontenot, and Jessica Bowers and Rebekah Kelley; and his great grandchildren, Mason and Adison; Dayton; Logan, Colt, and Kennedy; Hannah and Grayson; Elijah and Samuel; and Kira, Zane, and Jillian. He leaves behind quite a legacy.
Preceding him in death are his beloved grandsons, Logan McClure and Jason Kennedy; his parents, Sula and William Kennedy; three sisters and four brothers.
