William E. Race, 80, of Jacksonville, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born Feb. 14, 1935, in Buckner, MO, the son of William L. and Anna Kolle Race. He married Beatrice Erlene Geaschel on May 19, 1961, in Belleville, and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Kay (Jeff) Ator of Auburn; one son, William J. “Billy” Race of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Jessica Ator of Crown Point, IN, and Jeremy Ator of Auburn; and one sister, Sharon (David) Kitchin of Sun Lakes, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Race worked for Carnation for many years and was instrumental in opening the Jacksonville factory. He had served on the Pathway Foundation Board for many years.
