William E. DeWitt, 76, of Pendleton, passed away on August 3, 2015 at the St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. He was born on February 3, 1939 in Anderson, Indiana and resided most of his life in Pendleton. Bill graduated from Frankton High School. Then he served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. He retired from Delco Remy in 1998 after 35 years of service. Bill attended First Church of the Nazarene, was a member of the UAW 662, and the NRA. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He also loved to fish, work outside in his yard, but most importantly he cared for and loved everyone, especially his family. Bill is survived by his loving children, Janice (Dennis) Reddick of Anderson, John (Beverly) DeWitt of Harrison, AR, and Wendell L. (Pam) DeWitt of Anderson; grandchildren, Megan Reddick, Jennifer DeWitt, Aaron (Trisha) DeWitt, Erin Nixon, Cade Nixon, Amber DeWitt, and Kaity (Zach) Chism; great-grandchildren, Kyla Leonberger, Delaney Leonberger, David Leonberger, and Luke DeWitt. Also surviving are special friends, Gus and Bea Mathison, Linda Norville, and countless others. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Carolyn DeWitt; parents, David and Bertha DeWitt; and several brothers and sisters.
