William Dettore, 90, of Ottawa died Thursday morning, Jan. 20, at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Mr. Dettore was born on March 3, 1920, in Toluca to Otto and Anna (Salvati) Dettore. He married Liliana Vanda Cordovani on August 19, 1945 in Florence, Italy.
He and his wife owned and operated Dettores West Lanes for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Marys Church, Knights of Columbus, Ottawa Moose Lodge, American Legion, VFW, Bowling Proprietors Association and United Bowling Congress. He is survived by two daughters, Patty (Eric) Janssen and Laruie (Michael) Jessen, both of Ottawa; eight grandchildren, Ann Nelson, Clarissa South, Nichole, Craig, and Michael W. Jessen, Angela Duffy, Cara Marco and Kylie Wilhelm: 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Liliana, on Jan. 21, 2010; one daughter, Susan Wilhelm; two sons, John and William Dettore; one brother, John Dettore.
