William Dwight Stoneburner, 77 of Belton TX, died of natural causes this May 10th 2015 in the year of our Lord. William was born in Kansas City, MO on the 29th of May 1937. The son of Lesley and Martha Stoneburner and brother of Elaine, who have all preceded him in death, passed away in his home in Belton TX. He is survived by his sons Brian, Eric, Thomas and Richard Stoneburner and grandchildren Ryan, Tessa, Erica and Iliana Stoneburner, all living in the central Texas Area. William graduated from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles in 1955.

He then attended and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1960 with a Bachelors of Arts in Humanities. He then served this great nation by enlisting in the Army from 1961-1963 and was then commissioned as an officer in the Army Reserve. He returned to school and graduated from Southwestern University, Los Angeles in 1969 with a Bachelors of Arts in Juris Doctor. He worked at a law firm in LA and then a bank in Dallas until he was asked to return to active duty. While there he completed his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Georgia State University in 1990.

He retired that same year as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Army after 27 years of service and opened his private law practice in 1992 to serve the people of Belton TX until his passing. Dad was an avid fisherman and loved camping in the outdoors and travelling. He corresponded routinely with many friends from his high school, military career, college days and those he met; those who had the pleasure of knowing him always noticed his warm smile. He was active as a USC alumnus, President of the Belton Reserve Officers Association and was an organizer of the Belton Community Emergency response Team to better prepare our city for natural disasters. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
