William “Duck” Harrison Menzies, December 11, 1941 – February 16, 2014.

William Harrison “Duck” Menzies, 72, died February 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by friends and family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Duck was born on December 11, 1941 as the second son of three to Max Duery Menzies and Susan Katherine Harrison Menzies in San Angelo, TX and was raised on the family ranch in Menard, TX. Graduating from the University of North Texas in 1966 with a BBA in Marketing, Duck proudly served his country in the US Army before settling down to start a family and successful career.

An accomplished artist, Duck was best known as a custom boot maker. Perfecting his trade to become one of the most recognized and talented boot makers in the state of Texas. A proud father, grandfather, veteran, Texan and stranger to no man, Duck lived life every day to the fullest and taught his family how to appreciate what God has given and to love unconditionally. The evidence of these teaching lives on forever in all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Gina Menzies, their six children: William H. Menzies Jr. and wife Jennifer, Shally Fisher and husband Hank, Jennifer Speer and husband Colin, Dawn Bailey and husband Richard, Whitt Michael and wife LaShawna, and Grant Lee Menzies and wife Randi Kay as well as his fourteen grandchildren that he loved dearly.

He is also survived by his brothers: Max Duery Menzies, Jr. and wife LaWanda and John Marion Menzies and wife Brenda and their families as well as numerous friends, especially dear family friend Pam Giles. He is preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Maxwell Menzies, Martha Moss Menzies and his parents, Max and Kitty Sue Menzies. Duck was a member of the Soldiers of the Cross Cowboy Church in Nolanville and enjoyed sharing his love of Christ with all that he knew.
