William D. “The Hawk” Manciocchi, Jr., 63, of 2629 Dove St. Williamsport, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at home after a long illness.

     Born in Williamsport, Feb. 12, 1948, he was the son of William D. Manciocchi, Sr. and Pauline M. (Faiola) Manciocchi.

He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1967 and was a six year U.S. Air Force Veteran during Vietnam. He was employed by Curchoe’s Markets (1973-83), A.L. Vellott Distributing (1983-85), and for the past 25 years as a salesman with Miller Distributing, South Williamsport.

     He married Donna J. Tucker in 1970 at Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, NY and they celebrated their 40th anniversary on Feb. 14, 2010 at the Sons of Italy Lodge #2786. At that time, the Sons of Italy dedicated their ballroom to the couple.

    Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, a daughter Marlo J. (Manciocchi) Chavez, N.J., son William R., at home, and daughter Tiasha J. Machuga of Williamsport, four grandchildren; Damian Hill, 10, Maritza Chavez, 5, Jordin Machuga, 4, and William Chavez, 3, three first cousins, John (Linda) Mazzullo, Frank (Diane) Mazzullo, and Lou (Linda) Mazzulo, all of Williamsport. He was preceded in death by his beloved pets, Kelly and Lexus.

     A football fan, Bill was a prognosticator on the Sunday Morning Sports Show with Joe Cooper and Tom Kline. He was an avid Bocce Player going to tournaments at the Toccolanna Club in Rome, NY and throughout NY and PA. Bill started the Bocce League at the Sons of Italy #2786, where he also was a founding member, officer (Club President), organizer of the weekly spaghetti dinner, many dances, Karaoke night, and lead singer of the “Who Cares?”.  His greatest pride was being organizer of “La Festa” for seven years.

     Bill was a man of many ideas. In 1985 he invented the “Antiseptic Toothpick”. In 2003 he wrote a screenplay entitled “Corleone for President.”

     Thanks go to all his family, friends, and customers for all their prayers and to the Sons of Italy for organizing the Cancer Benefit. A very special thank you to his friends, Louie Miele and Danielle Swisher, for all they did during his last week.
