Muncie – William D. “Jr.” Griffis, 90, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Bethel Pointe following an extended illness.
William was born in Yorktown on June 18, 1922, the son of William D. and Martha (Helvie) Griffis, and was a 1940 graduate of Yorktown High School.
Mr. Griffis served proudly in the United States Army Air Corps. during World War II. He worked for many years for Les Smith Motors.
Servivors include his wife of 66 years, Sylvia Griffis, Muncie; a son, William R. Griffis, Muncie; a daughter, Linda S. Abrell, (husband-Michael), Yorktown; three sisters, Ellen Donavon, Muncie, Melanie Plummer, (husband-Ronnie), Muncie, and Joann Smith, (husband-Chuck), Yorktown; two grandchildren, Brian Abrell, (wife-Kami), Pendleton, and Michelle Cupp, (husband-Justin), Muncie; a great grandson, Owen Cupp, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Griffis.
