William D. Porter, 72, a resident of Oldsmar, Florida passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida. Born August 6, 1942 in Freeport, Illinois he was the son of R. Dale and Vergie (Keltner) Porter.
Mr. Porter graduated from Shannon High School in 1960 and served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He graduated from Alexian Brothers Hospital with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in 1968, and then continued studies at St. Luke’s Hospital, graduating with an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) degree in 1970.
Mr. Porter studied the practice of anesthesia, and spent his career administering anesthesia in hospitals and outpatient surgery settings as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). He enjoyed hot air ballooning, music, professional ice hockey, and photography.
He is survived by two brothers John (Cherri) Porter of Broaddus, TX and David (Kathy) Porter of Oconomowoc, WI; nephews Bryce Porter of Madison, WI, Casey (Amber) Porter of Oconomowoc, WI, and Scott Porter of Broaddus, TX and extended family and friends who knew and loved him.
