William Christian was born July 27, 1920 in Fairfield, VA to the late Samuel and Maggie Rose Christian. He confessed hope in Christ at an early age in Fairfield, VA and was later united with Garner Memorial C.M.E. Church in Decatur, AL.
He joined the Army in 1943 and was assigned to the old Courtland Air Force Base in Courtland, AL. He was discharged in 1946 and made Decatur, AL his home. He was employed for many years with Decatur Utilities until he retired.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 68 years, Thelma Christian; Mother and Father; three sisters and one brother all of Fairfield, VA.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one son Alphonso Robinson (Shirley) Boston, MA; one daughter, Barbara A. Sanders (Ollie) Muscle Shoals, AL; seven grandchildren, Shirley Garth of Montgomery, AL; Shawn Robinson, Robin Robinson, Renalda Chambers, Velda Chambers, all of Boston, MA; Rita A. Miller of Muscle Shoals, AL; Franklin D. Miller of Atlanta, GA; one niece, Famie Smothers of Lexington, VA; one nephew, Albert Winters (Dorothy) of Washington, DC; six sisters-in law, Lois Picket, Maggie Love, Catherine Davis, all of Decatur; Evelina Brown (Jimmy), Hawthorne, CA; Sarah Hinton, and Colonel (Retired) Mary Cotton, of Huntsville, AL; a devoted nephew, Lester Fletcher of Decatur and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
