Salem William “Carl” Ferrell, 86, of Liberty Addition died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at his residence following a long illness. He was born in Chiefton on March 1, 1923, a son of the late Roy and Ora Watson Ferrell. He was married to Frances Richards Ferrell who predeceased him in 1999. Surviving are two sons, David Ferrell and his wife Deb of Salem and Richard Ferrell and his wife Helen of Smithburg as well as three daughters, Carla Ferrell of Wilsonburg, Barbara Wilkinson and husband Tinsley of Liberty Addition, and Sandra Jean Ash and husband Junior of Baltimore, Md.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neices and nephews. Also surviving are one brother, Bernard Ferrell of Clarksburg, and three sisters, Dorothy Rhodes of Sardis, Josephine Morris of Clarksburg, and Lillian Hawkinberry of Dandridge, TN. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene, Robert, Jess,and Okey Ferrell and a sister Mary Snyder. Mr. Ferrell was an avid golfer who played at Lake Floyd for many years, loved to garden and raise cattle on his farm, enjoyed trout fishing, playing cards, and was much loved by his dogs, Rosco and Zoe.
