William C. Myers passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.  He was born to Sadie and Raymond Myers on January 13, 1931. He is the middle son of three, Wayne and Fred are his brothers. Bill graduated from Honey Creek High school in 1949 where he lettered in basketball. He married the former Anna L. (Louise) Herter on April 7, 1951. In November of that year Bill was invited to be an “Honored Guest” of the U.S. Army to a little party they were having in South Korea. He was having so much fun that he stayed until late November of 1953.

Bill was a hard-working man who always did his best for his family. He loved following and rooting for his favorite teams, Cincinnati Reds, Indiana University men’s basketball and Terre Haute South High boys’ and girls’ basketball. He was an avid softball player catching for his brother Wayne for many years and later pitching himself. He also enjoyed playing golf, coaching Little League Baseball, taking the 1962 T.H. Little League All-Stars to the final game of the Midwest Regional tournament. Later he assisted in the formation of the Junior Fast Pitch softball league.

In 1987 they took the whole family to Disney World. Everyone had matching hats that said “Bill’s Bunch” When one of the grandkids wandered off, complete strangers knew who they belonged to by the hat and returned them. After retirement, he and Louise enjoyed traveling and many times playing in mixed couples golf tournaments all over the country. They also regularly attended Red’s home games and were season ticket holders for the South High school basketball teams for many years. Basically, they were enjoying life.

A big part of that life was their two children Rick and Robin, their five grandchildren, Becky, Toby, Jessica, Neil and Anna and their 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
