William C. “Bill” Griffin, 66, of Tallula, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at his residence.
He was born March 26, 1950, the son of Wilbert Cecil and Gertrude Ellen Knowles Griffin. He married Sandra Kay Miller on May 25, 1974, in Little America, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2006.
He is survived by five brothers and two sisters, Pat Stillman, Bob (wife, Vickie) Griffin, Wilbert E. (wife, Linda) Griffin, Francis S. Griffin, Nancy (husband, Jack) Carnahan, David Davies, and Scott (wife, Mary) Davies; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Mr. Griffin had been a jailer in Cass County and a part-time Ashland Police officer. He then began work at Cargill in Beardstown, retiring in 2009. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a combat engineer during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge he became a member of the National Guard, and was discharged with the rank of Specialist 4.
