William “Butch” Gray was born October 28, 1948 in Cabarrus County, NC to the late Wade Gray and Helen Hartsell. He graduated from Concord High School in 1968 and worked in restaurant management until his retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 35 years, Robin; daughters Tamara Winstead and husband Lindsey of Oak Island, NC; Catrina Weatherby and husband Glynn of China Grove, NC; Christie DeVine and husband John of Archdale, NC; Katrina Morrison and husband Larry of Lexington, NC, and son Timothy Johnson of Concord; grandchildren Chelsea Gieck; Alexandria Overcash; Olivia Weatherby; Grayson Weatherby; Gabrielle DeVine; Joshua DeVine; Matthew Morrison; Leah Morrison; Abby Morrison; Kiersten Morrison; Casey Johnson; Alexis Johnson; and Peyton Johnson; two fur children Romeo and Noel, who were his constant companions; sisters Betsy Bost and Linda Eudy; stepmother Sonja Marie Gray; step brothers Wade and Wayne Gray.
He was preceded in death by three sons, William Jr., Teddy, and Justin; stepfather Hubert Hartsell; step siblings Mike Hartsell, Mary Ruth Hartsell, Patricia Guy, and Pamela Gray.
