Salem William Brooks Yerkey, 79, of Big Flint near Salem died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, January 9, 2011. He was born March 3, 1931 at East Run, Doddridge County, the son of the late Laudra Nile Yerkey and Pearl Blanche Ford Yerkey. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been predeceased by four brothers, Raymond, John, Jack, and Eugene Yerkey and five sisters, Lecta Jackson, Clara June Jackson, Madeline Hankins, Mary Lee Hutson, and Bonnie Curran. His wife of 56 years, Barbara Jean Dennison Yerkey, survives along with their children, William D. Yerkey of Big Flint, John C. Yerkey and wife Sue of Center Point, Ronnie Yerkey and wife Debbie of Big Flint, Denise Lee Edgell and husband, Greg, of West Union, and DeAnna Renee Davis and husband, Bill of Big Flint. He was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Randall Brooks Yerkey. Mr. Yerkey was a member of Liberty Baptist Church on Big Flint.
