William F. “Billy Cal” Calamita II, 85, of Orange, passed away July 13, 2012 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Florence D’Agostino Calamita. Mr Calamita was born in New Haven Nov. 29, 1926, son of the late William and Molly Barone Calamita. A well known restaurateur in New Haven, over the years, he operated Cal’s Corner, The Arena Grille and Stowe’s Pilot House, later known as Billy Cal’s Pilot House. He also managed the Lounge at the New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum. More recently, he worked for the New Haven Parking Authority for 20 years until his retirement.
