William “Bill” D. Warnick, age 79, of Glen Burnie, Maryland passed away on April 7, 2006 following a valiant struggle with cancer. Bill was born on January 28, l927, in Piedmont, West Virginia. He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served on the USS Pennsylvania during World War II. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal for his bravery in service to his country. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. After serving his country, he became a life-long member of the American Legion Post #276 in Severn, MD.
Bill was an avid history buff, who also enjoyed the banjo and guitar and listening to Bluegrass music.
He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Christine and William Lowrimore of Glen Burnie, Maryland and Karen and Larry Shelor of Christiansburg, Virginia; five grandchildren, Lee Lowrimore of Lansing, Michigan, Dawn Beal of Dundalk, Maryland, Jerry Lowrimore of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Monica and Ryan Shelor, of Christiansburg, Virginia; and two greatgrandchildren, as well as one sister, Lori Vacek of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and two brothers, Charles Warnick and his wife Nancy of Glen Burnie, Maryland and Thomas Sprought and his fiancee Debbie Coby of Linthicum, Maryland. The family would like to thank Dr. Mayer Gorbaty for his professional care and compassion during our loved ones illness.
