William Thomas “Bill” Sinnott, 86, of Westminster, died Thursday morning, February 11, 2016, at his home. Born June 26, 1929 on John Street in Westminster, he was the son of the late George C. “Happy” and Catherine A. Lantz Sinnott. He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Dolores F. Shipley Sinnott.
Bill was a retired sales representative of F.A. Davis. Earlier in life he was a carpenter and worked as the assistant manager of Modern Recreation Bowling Alley and Riffle’s Pool Hall in Westminster. He was a life-long member of St. John Catholic Church, where he was an usher for 60 years. He enjoyed duck-pin bowling and was an avid golfer, becoming a member of the Spalding Hole In One Club, 3rd tee at the Western Maryland College Golf Course in 1975.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Kevin Shipley Sinnott, of Laurel, daughter and son-in-law, Sharon E. and Gary W. Helwig, son and daughter-in-law, Steven T. and Laura F. Sinnott, all of Westminster, 7 grandsons, 2 great-grandchildren, a sister Grace A. Dutterer, sister-in-law H. Louise Sinnott of Shrewsbury, PA, an aunt Mary Alice McCaffrey of Westminster, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was predeceased by infant daughter Kathleen Fay Sinnott, brothers Charles C. and George E. Sinnott, a sister Elizabeth A. Walsh and infant twin brother and sister.
