William “Bill” Thomas, 80, Pendleton, passed away November 6, 2008, at Rawlins House, Pendleton after a brief illness.

He was born March 11, 1928, in Greenfield, Indiana, and resided in Madison County all of his life. Bill was a graduate of Anderson High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as Fire Chief in the Security Department of the Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 34 years of service. He was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church and was a 50-year member of the American Legion in Pendleton. Bill loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and bird feeding.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Smith Thomas; children, William Bradley Julie Thomas of Columbia, Tennessee, Gregory J. Carolyn Thomas of Columbia, Tennessee, Tony Shelly Thomas of Markleville, Andy Laura Thomas of Dickenson, Texas, Carrie Thomas of Pendleton and Pete Jessica Thomas of Markleville; brother, Robert Thomas of Mountain Home, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and his beloved dog, Friday.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Marie Swain Thomas.
