William “Bill” G. Nehrt, Sr., 79, of Centralia, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, at his home. He was born December 9, 1938, in Grand Tower, the son of Vernon Nehrt and Marjorie (Grathwohl) Nehrt. He married Lydia List on April 24, 1976, and she survives in Centralia.
In addition to his wife of years, Lydia Nehrt of Centralia, he is also survived by four sons: Michael Nehrt and wife Dondi of Vancouver, WA, William Nehrt Jr. and wife Rhonda of Centralia, Adam Nehrt and wife Christie of Swansea and Mark Nehrt and wife Stephanie of Centralia; 7 grandchildren: Cindy Nehrt and Kate Nehrt both of Vancouver, WA, Matt Nehrt of Centralia, Ashlee Nehrt of Benton, Logan Johnson of Swansea, Titan Nehrt and Lincoln Nehrt both of Centralia; 5 great-grandchildren; brother: Robert “Bob” Nehrt and wife Beverly of Centralia; mother-in-law: Adele List of Carlyle; a brother-in-law: Roger List and Sue of Aurora, Colorado; two sisters-in-law: Kathy Dagg and husband Leon of Centralia and Rosann Horstmann and husband Norman of Damiansville; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill worked for the Washington County Highway Department for several years. He also worked as a driver for Bunny Bread and served as Irvington Township Road Commissioner. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Centralia. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and cutting firewood. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
