Commander William “Bill” Lowe, USN Ret.
Born in Joplin, MO on May 27, 1933, to Meredith and Lois Nadine (Rogers) Lowe. He left this life on June 21, 2019, at Saint Anthony North Hospital.
Billy grew up in the south side of Chicago until he was eight years old when his family moved to Compton, CA. At Compton Jr. College he met and then married Sue Ellen Ferrick, the love of his life, on January 30, 1954.
In October 1954, Bill joined the US Navy and went to Officer Candidate School. He served 22 years in the Navy on submarines and surface ships. Bill was the Submarine Attaché to NATO from 1968-1971. Bill retired in 1976 as the Commanding Officer of the United States Naval Station in Los Angeles/Long Beach, CA.
The Lowe Family moved to Colorado in 1976, and Bill taught Middle School P.E. and coached multiple sports in the Boulder Valley School District.
Passionate about his heritage, Bill Lowe was heavily involved with the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Festival, Knights of St. George, Knights of Columbus, the St. Andrews Society, and the Scottish American Military Society.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Ted and Nadine; sister Barb Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Sue sons Fr. Bryan, Mike (Lisa), Kevin (Apryll); grandsons Collin and Carson; brother Robert (Marlene) Lowe. Several nieces and nephews also love him.
