William “Bill” John Moreland, 85, of Flagstaff, AZ passed away on December 6, 2007.

Bill was born in Shelburne, IN on February 13, 1922. He was a retired Sergeant First Class from the U.S Army who was part of the first wave of soldiers to land on Omaha Beach in WWII and played taps during the first memorial at Normandy, France. He had two tours in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star for outstanding performance.

He was a member of Hope Community Church and an envoy member of Beta Sigma Phi. He completed the crossword puzzle daily and enjoyed history and westerns. Family always came first in his life.

He is survived by his wife Joan Moreland, son Bobby (Sandra) Moreland, daughters Priscilla Jaramillo, Susan (Paul) Gooder and Katherine Moreland, step-daughter Jacqueline (Keith) Menasco.

He also is survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and nephews. He had many friends that will miss him. The family would like to thank his caregivers at Loyalton, RTA Hospice and Flagstaff Medical Center for the care they provided Bill during his long illness.
