William “Bill” James Sherwood, age 76, of Tipton went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Bill was born on October 29, 1945 in Noblesville, IN to his parents, William P. Sherwood & Ann L. (Terry) Sherwood.
Bill was a Tipton High School graduate; class of 1964. He married the love of his life, Marilyn A. (Adams) Sherwood on September 18, 1965. Bill and Marilyn were the best of friends. Their friendship started when they met in 2nd grade. Their incredible love story only grew and blossomed through the years, as they shared 56 years of marriage.
Bill was drafted into the United States Navy in 1965, and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After returning to civilian life, he began working for Chrysler (Kokomo) as a fork truck driver. Bill retired from Chrysler in 2004, however he continued working. Bill very much enjoyed working alongside his brother doing farm work.
Bill was a member of the American Legion, post 46. In his spare time he enjoyed yardwork, traveling, and going for motorcycle rides through the Blue Ridge Mountains with several of his lifelong friends.
Those left to carry on Bill’s legacy of love are his wife, Marilyn A. Sherwood; son, James “Jim” (Angie) Sherwood; brother, Terry (Gale) Sherwood; nieces & nephews, Heather (Justin) Sanders, Emily Sherwood, Jennifer (Chris) Morris, Jason Adams; brother in law, Larry (Wionna) Adams; great nephews, Tyler Smith & Trey Smith.
