William “Bill” H. Markley 83, of Mt. Clare, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022 at his residence. He was born February 4, 1939 in Elkins the son of the late William Shirley and Airanna Deshong Markley. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Dencie Athlyn “Tootsie” Markley, whom he married June 1, 1963 and passed February 2, 2004; one brother; James Markley. He is survived by one son, Roger A. Markley and wife Tiffany of Clarksburg; two daughters, Cheryl Taylor and husband Arthur “Boo” of Mt. Clare, Laura Shaffer and husband Brian of Jane Lew; seven grandchildren, Randy Blake, Amber Shaffer, Elizabeth Shaffer, B. K. Shaffer, Hannah Markley, Tristen Markley and Raiden Markley; three great grandchildren, Grayson, Ryleigh, and Easton; several nieces and nephews. Bill graduated from Victory High School, Class of 1957 and served in the United States Army during Vietnam where he received two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars.  He had worked at Rokisky’s in his younger years and retired as an electronic technician with twenty-two years working for General Communications in Bridgeport and RDL Electronics in Nutter Fort.  He played in a band called the “Sundowners” and was a lifetime member of the Clarksburg VFW Post 573.  He enjoyed camping and fishing and loved spending time with his family.
